Should You – Or Shouldn’t You – Apply for That Job?

Should You – Or Shouldn’t You – Apply for That Job?

When you’re job searching, it can be quick and easy to apply for as many jobs as you want to. All you need to do is click to upload or email your application materials. After all, job hunting, at some level, is a numbers game. The more jobs you apply for, the better your chances of getting selected for an interview – or maybe not…

There are times when it makes sense not to apply for a job. If you don’t do it right (and that means a customized cover letter and a resume that’s tweaked to fit the job, in many cases), your application may not even get noticed by the hiring manager. If the job is too much of a stretch, the only way you might get considered is if there aren’t any candidates who are sufficiently well-qualified for the role. If it sounds too good to be true, the position might be a scam.

How can you tell whether you should apply for a job, or whether you’re better off saving your time and focusing on other opportunities that appear to be a better fit? Resume.io has created a handy guide you can use to decide when you should apply for that job:
