There are times when it makes sense not to apply for a job. If you don’t do it right (and that means a customized cover letter and a resume that’s tweaked to fit the job, in many cases), your application may not even get noticed by the hiring manager. If the job is too much of a stretch, the only way you might get considered is if there aren’t any candidates who are sufficiently well-qualified for the role. If it sounds too good to be true, the position might be a scam.
